FAQ's
What is a mentor collective, and what makes it unique?

Living with Purpose Mentor Collective is not a traditional business. We do not share fees or business expenses. Rather, we are a collective of individuals united by a common mission and purpose. Our goal is to help individuals discover their wisdom and purpose, which fosters authentic healing and empowerment.
All mentors have completed the same training and meet regularly to support one another as we assist others.

Why is this not traditional therapy?

Mentors can be found everywhere! The teachers you connect with in school can serve as mentors. The wise, experienced co-worker or coach can also be a mentor. Even the person who taught you how to drive or cook is a mentor. Mentors can inspire you to grow, provide a second opinion, connect with others, and share valuable life lessons. Sometimes, the biggest challenge is finding and connecting with a mentor.

To address this, Laura Mock wanted to bring together a group of compassionate individuals with unique experiences and wisdom, making it easier for young adults to find safe, trusted connections and the support they need. The Living with Purpose Collective mentors completed Mindful Mentor training through Laura Mock and Laura Mock Living, LLC. This training involves a deeply personal exploration of their healing journeys and an in-depth study of mindful mentoring practices, case studies, lectures, and reflections. Our mentors are authentic, compassionate, and reflective listeners, connecting with their clients and helping them fulfill their goals in life. They deeply understand the struggles of transitioning into adulthood and offer mindful guidance for a journey of self-empowerment.

It's important to note that while mentors are authentic, compassionate, and reflective listeners and have training in mindfulness, they are not licensed counselors or therapists. They do not replace licensed professionals if psychological counseling is needed. Therefore, all clients must sign a waiver acknowledging that they understand mentors are not acting as or replacing licensed therapists. We are happy to give recommendations for traditional therapists in our area as we feel strongly that we are all in this together!

What training is required to join the Living with Purpose Collective?

Living with Purpose Mindful Mentoring training is unique and deeply personal. We spend a lot of time together, supporting one another personally as well as professionally. Living with Purpose Mindful Mentor Training is a two-fold approach:

1. Each mentor reflects on and honors their individual healing journeys. We are shaped by our beliefs, which is why mentors create time and space to examine their perceptions and perspectives, always being aware of any fears or judgments that may arise. When challenges come up, they practice what they preach, turning to their foundational healing practices and modalities for empowerment. We recognize that everyone has a unique journey, and it's essential for all of us, including mentors, to look in the mirror, set intentions, and discover and live our authentic truths.

2. Mentors invited to this training bring specific expertise and unique insights from their respective fields. Once they join the collective, they commit to over a year of studying and reflecting on mindful mentoring practices and philosophies. This training involves examining case studies and lectures, reading selected texts, and engaging in in-depth group discussions and explorations. As mentors progress through their training, they are required to log a specific number of hours mentoring teens and young adults before they can complete the program.

What can you expect?

Mentors act as guides for their mentees. They listen, encourage, support, and offer advice when asked. With their wealth of life experiences and mindful training, mentors are reflective listeners open to sharing their insights. You can expect natural conversations that involve exchanging stories, finding connections, and seeking different perspectives. Some individuals who look for a mentor may also have a private therapist, while others may only want a mentor. Ultimately, whatever you feel best supports you on your journey is the right choice!
